Mary Marshall

Club Head Coach,  Preschool Coach,  Recreational Coach

Mary has always been interested in sport and became seriously involved in gymnastics in 1985. For several years Mary worked at Leatherhead and Dorking Gymnastics Club working with both Recreational and Pre-School children.  Mary moved to Avondale when she was asked to take over the Pre-School Programme. With a young family, although sorry to leave Leatherhead it seemed like a sensible move to make. Mary introduced Tumble Gym, the Pre-School Programme, the Badge Schemes for Recreational and Pre-School Children as well as the Parties that are in place today.

The club was then in a state of disrepair and losing money. In a surprise telephone call the Head Coach asked Mary if she would take over running Avondale.

Following over three decades of hard work and dedication Mary has ploughed the proceeds back into the club improving the facilities, equipment and coaching to give the local community a safe and affordable club to send their children.

Michaela Khoo

WAG Club Coach (equivalent of Level 3)
Level 1 & 2 Preschool Coach, WAG Regional Judge

Hi, I am Michaela Khoo

I have been a member of Avondale for over 30 years, first as a gymnast and then as a coach.

I have coached recreational and squad gymnasts as well as organising displays.

After leaving to start my family I returned to Avondale Gymnastics Club to coach again.

Hi, I am Thomas (Tom) Falkner.

I have been a part of Avondale since 2013 as both a gymnast and a helper.

Since returning from university I’ve completed my Level 2 General Gymnastics qualification.

Avondale is like a second home to me and I look forward to seeing the club continue flourish.

Hi, I am Hazel

I’ve been a Gymnastics Coach as well as a Strength & Conditioning coach for gymnastics over the last 6 years.

I have worked at a variety of clubs and different levels but have found a home coaching at Avondale.

I am currently undergoing level 3 General Gymnastics coaching qualification.

My favourite skills to coach are walkovers.

Hi, I am Abbie

I am a Level 2 General Gymnastics coach and I am working towards hopefully becoming a Women’s Artistic Coach.

I have been working at Avondale since 2019, and currently I coach Pre-School, Recreational and Advanced classes.

I began gymnastics when I was 4 years old and loved taking part in displays.

Alongside gymnastics I was part of a cheerleading team.

I thoroughly enjoy passing on my skills and knowledge through coaching gymnastics!

Avondale Gymnastics Club is an established club with a purpose-built facility and a history of success spanning 70+ years.

The Club offers a wide range of gymnastic activities including Squad (competitions), pre-school & recreational lessons.

Our coaching team has a hard working ethos, and a passion for outstanding gymnastics within a warm, caring environment.

We need exceptional individuals to join our team and continue that success.

The right person will be encouraged to further their training for their own personal development.‬

We are always looking for L1 & L2 coaches qualified in Pre-School, General & W/A.

We require immediately a male artistic coach to support our gymnasts on floor and bars two evenings a week.
